New roof reduces heat loss by 60%
A totally new roof on a multi user sports facility, together with the use of many new materials has resulted in a measured improvement in heat retention of over 60%. The customer was prepared to invest in lower energy bills in the future by completely replacing the existing roof with a new structure which incorporates 300mm of celotex insulation, 3 additional layers of heat insulating foil and 600mm of loft insulation. At current fuel prices, the improvement will pay for itself within 5 years and result in future fuel bills of less than half.
Increasing energy prices have completely changed the economics of energy conservation. What wasn’t worth doing 10 years ago is often now obviously worthwhile.
Fuel prices will continue to rise as government priorities increasingly target poor energy performance and ever increasing legislation will put additional pressure on all property owners to meet higher standards of energy efficiency.
